There are two torsion springs at each side of the garage door.
Proper spring tension for garage door.
The springs extend along the shaft and work by twisting as the garage door closes by means of cables attached to each side of the lowest garage door panel.
If you need to increase the spring tension hook the spring onto a lower hole on the track hanger.
Should be made in 1 4 turn increments.
When two springs are used both sides should be adjusted the same.
Raise the door using the handle on the outside.
To adjust torsion spring tension the door is locked in the down position.
Once your garage door is secured remove the spring hook from the track hanger which will allow you to move the hook and adjust the spring s tension.
Tension is reduced by removing turns.
Move to the outside of the garage.
Disconnect the door from the automatic opener using the disconnect cord.
If the door is hard to raise the tension at the hinge springs is too.
Through the use of pulleys they perform the same function as the torsion springs.
Side mounted springs are long heavy springs mounted on each side of the upper garage door track.
This tension makes it easier to lift the garage door from its closed position.
The springs are located at the top inside part of the garage door.
