Align the leading bottom edge of the first piece on the gable rake with the front edge of the drip edge installed on the eave.

Slip the wide flat flange of the material all the way under the first course of roof shingles as illustrated. Place a nail at one end then the other. If it doesn t pull the drip edge out slightly from under the shingles. Be sure to tuck the drip edge under the starter strip and felt paper.

You may need to nail through the starter strip into the drip edge. The drip edge should be nailed centered in the top surface every 8 to 10 inches. Make sure to support the long end of the cut if you let it fall after cutting it will bend down and kink the drip edge. Apply a continuous bead of cement along the top of the drip edge then press down on the shingle.

Slide the corner tight to the fascia. Gently lift up the shingles on the edge of the roof and locate the nails holding the existing drip edge onto. The roof leg should extend a minimum of 2 back onto the roof sheathing. Slightly open the hemmed edge to slide this piece over top of the installed piece on the eave.

How to install a drip edge. At the eaves the drip edge should be installed before the eave protection membrane. While the vertical leg should be placed 1 4 1 2 away from the fascia. Make sure the corner is tight and that the bottom edge is tight to the fascia before nailing off the drip edge.

On the gable rake install drip edge starting at the bottom and working up. Secure the drip edge with roofing cement. At the rake the drip edge is installed over the underlay. It can be done.
